URGENT PLEA!! LOVEDAYS NEED A BASS PLAYER!!
(posted by ben on 05-09-2008)
Hey Pop pickers,
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we, The Lovedays, find ourselves bass playerless again!
Yes, It does seem a little Spinal Tap, but we can asure you that no one was killed in a bizarre gardening accident, and there was certainly no spontaneous combustion....although Jasons stomach has been rumbling somewhat recently...
Anyhow, we are going to be holding auditions very soon, so if you are interested, you need to fit the following criteria and send us a mail at the contact page
*Between 23 - 30 years old
*have own bass and amp
*hold a full drivers licence
*be prepared to perform sexual favours for Ben on command
Ok, the last one is negotiable...
So, Male, Female, doesn't matter, and if you can sing as well, that would be a bonus.
Hope to hear from you soon!

Lounge on The Farm short review
(posted by ben on 25-08-2008)
We happened upon this one at the efestivals.co.uk site, from Simon Soukal...
"...At the mid point of the afternoon I chance upon The Lovedays on the Sheep Dip stage. This 4 piece look like they have a combined age of about 42 which, as we know, is the number signifying the answer to all life's questions. They don't do that but they display a flourish of energy in a sub White-Stripsey kind of way and all in all are rather fantastic..."

Hello pop pickers,
Chief Loveday here. Just want to say a big thankyou to James Bursey and Tom Kirkby @ BBC Kent Introducing for playing "When The Lights Went Out" this past Sunday and making it "Hot Track of The Week"! Also to all of you for showing your support on the website message board, really overwhelming for us. Were getting played again this sunday between 8 and 9, so please tune in!
In other news....
Studio sessions for the next album are progressing well. We had reknowned cellist Richard Bolton in to play on a couple of songs, sounded great.
We've 7 songs in the can, great being back with Thee Jim Riley engineering and Rory doing various depraved acts for us...super.
My mind is at a blank at the moment, due to copious amounts of Earl Grey, very rock n roll, so will report back with more news later.........

BBC Radio Kent presenter James Bursey last night announced that our track ‘When the lights went out’ was “...the hottest record of the week”

Lounge on The Farm success
(posted by ben on 15-07-2008)
Well folks, Lounge was another great outing for us. The best festival of the year, amazing line up of diverse acts over 6 stages, we were honoured to be there.
We had a great turnout, about 250 or so on the opening day of the festival. Big Kudos to Chris Gymer and Tom Palmar for great work at the sound board. Thanks to everyone who came to see us. Reviews will be up soon.
Highlights of the festival for me were:
The great "Billy Wears Dresses" - great band, brilliant songs, inspiring to see another band making songs and performance most important.
Holly Golightly - superb songs, really great broke down set up.
Larry Jon Wilson - the absolute highlight. Simply breathtaking, engaging performance, cant praise this man enough. Check him out. The looming presence of Johnny Cash with such a unique personality.
Scott Brunger - The highlight of the folly stage. great original songs, wicked performance. Opening for us on our upcoming dates, really looking forward to hearing more of his songs.
Thats it for now, am still so tired from the weekend, brain not working quite right!
Again, thanks to all for continual support, hope to see you at some of the upcoming gigs.

Lovedays Togfest Success!
(posted by ben on 30-06-2008)
Well guys and gals, Togfest was a roaring success for The Lovedays.
We did a half hour, 6 song set, with the original line-up, featuring Ned Wombwell on Bass! Thanks to Ned for stepping in, as Steve was away.
We'd really like to thank Phil Wilson, Sarah Broughton,Ian and Linda Rowe, all at Hal Carter Organisation, Mike Krawte, Josh and Royston Jones, Rich Clark, Kelly Wright and Nicola Robson for everything they did to make it all run so smoothly.
A very special thanks to Mapex and Korg for all their support and helping us to have a better gig.
We met the organisers,Ian and Linda Rowe, afterwards, who were very complimentary, and were really great people, just the kind of people who you hope to meet running festivals.
Support this event in the future, cos if it wasn't for small independent festivals such as these, no new talent would be found. Its due to these peoples passion for music and entertainment that we all do what we do....anyhow, speech over!!

Sad news from the Lovedays HQ...
(posted by nicola on 07-05-2008)
We're sad to announce the departure of Ned Wombwell from The Lovedays. Ned has had some unfortunate circumstances come his way that have made it impossible for him to carry on in the band.
We would like to thank him for his invaluable contribution both as a player and a friend. He will be missed... we sincerely hope to play with him again in the future, and wish him all the best.
The forthcoming gigs we have booked will go ahead, with Neds blessing.
These are promising times for the band at the moment, what with a plethora of new material that Ben has written, and various degrees of interest from parties within the music industry
Thanks so much to you all for continual support
